How do we shape the future of the Digital Euro? This question was at the heart of the PaymentCircle hosted by P19 and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, on October 15, 2025.
In an open fishbowl format, Petia Niederländer (Oesterreichische Nationalbank), Martin Sprengseis-Kogler (P19, bluesource - mobile solutions gmbh), Tobias Kühner (Schwarz Corporate Solutions), Volker Stöger (efsta), Ji Zheng (Infineon Technologies), and Joachim Samuelsson (Crunchfish AB) discussed the role of technology, regulation, and industry in bringing the Digital Euro to life.
One thing became clear: the Digital Euro is not a replacement for cash, but a building block for new, innovative payment and economic systems. Competition, Cooperation, and Trust form the foundation — both among large corporations and smaller companies that will benefit from new solutions like payment linked loyalty.
Birgit Kraft-Kinz and Martin Sprengseis-Kogler, co-initiators of P19, emphasized the importance of open exchange about opportunities and challenges. The P19 Payment Circle provides exactly this space — to share visions and pioneer the future together.
Thank you to all participants for an inspiring afternoon!
