Payment in transition: P19 Neujahrsevent highlights cash and the digital euro

From cash to the digital euro: the future of payments brings new opportunities and challenges. These will be explored in keynotes and discussions at the P19 Neujahrsevent on 30 January. Projects for the P19 Payment Award can be submitted until 11 January.

Vienna, 10 January 2024 – Payment behaviour is changing, everyone is talking about the digital euro – how will cash fit into the payment system of the future? And what role will the digital euro play? These and other exciting questions will also be in the spotlight at the P19 Neujahrsevent, which will take place on 30 January in Vienna. Exciting keynotes and panel discussions will address the most important future topics for the payment sector. In addition, high-profile guests will exchange ideas and discuss topics such as payment in retail, e-commerce, mobility and tourism. ‘The digital euro is an important innovation for European payments and opens up new opportunities, especially when it comes to including more people in the payment system. At the same time, cash continues to dominate. The future of payments is certainly going to be exciting,’ says Birgit Kraft-Kinz, co-founder of P19 and CEO of KRAFTKINZ GmbH.
 

Submission phase for the P19 Payment Award has started
As part of its Neujahrsevent, P19 will once again present the P19 Payment Award in the categories ‘Innovative Solutions’, ‘Sustainability in Payment’ and ‘Payment Pioneer of the Year’. ‘Our goal is to recognise outstanding achievements, innovative approaches and inspiring personalities who have made a special contribution to strengthening and diversifying European payments,’ explains Birgit Kraft-Kinz. The winners will be selected by an independent jury composed of experts from the banking sector, retail, regulation and payment service providers. The submission phase runs until 11 January 2024.
